Claims made easy

Remedi Medical Aid Scheme sends members claims statements and claim notifications so you can keep track of how you use your benefits. Understanding your claim notification and claim statements allows you to see how much you spend on medical expenses and manage them so you don’t use up all your benefits or reach limits unexpectedly, leaving you with limited cover.

We let you know in two ways how you’ve used your benefits – claim notifications and claim statements – to help you keep track of your medical spend and plan for the rest of the year.

How to claim

If your healthcare provider is part of our network or contracted as one of our designated service providers and sends us your claim, you do not have to send us the claim as well.

We will refund you when you have paid upfront for the services your doctor has provided, or if your treating doctor has charged more than the Remedi Rate.

We must receive claims within four months from the date of treatment (this date has to be on the invoice). If an invoice is older than four months, it expires and we will not pay it.

Make sure the invoice clearly shows your name and membership number, and the healthcare provider’s details, including the practice number.

To claim, send a detailed invoice with codes and descriptions; the receipt is not enough. We need all the medical details to process your claim quickly and correctly.

You can submit your claims fast and easy in one of these ways:

  1. Use the Discovery app
    • Open the Discovery app and log in.
    • Scroll down and choose Medical aid.
    • Under Your claims, touch Submit a claim.
    • You can then either:
      • Choose Select from gallery to submit a photo that you have already taken of the invoice, or
      • Choose Scan a document to take a photo of the invoice and upload it
    • Touch Submit to send us your claim.
  2. Send an email
    • Scan and email your invoices to claims@discovery.co.za
    • Please make sure the scan’s quality is good to ensure prompt and correct processing.
