If your client's car is in for repairs but it's going to take longer than expected or their car has been declared a write-off, these benefits might just give them that additional peace of mind they were looking for.
Accidents happen. Sometimes repairs can take a long time and your clients might find themselves without a car for longer than expected. Are there ways that we can further enhance your clients' car insurance for additional peace of mind?
Discovery Insure offers two ways that your clients can add extra value to their car insurance plan which can help minimise the inconvenience that an incident might cause.
1. Car hire extender
Thirty days is a long time to be without a set of wheels. So, it's good to have a car hire benefit on your client's car insurance plan.
A 30-day period for car hire is included automatically on our Classic and Purple Plans and available at an additional cost for our Essential Plan clients.
There are times that repair work could take longer than 30 days due to parts being delayed on import. In fact, as many as 20% of car insurance clients need access to car hire for a longer period than 30 days for repair work to be completed.
Since repair work can sometimes take more time, the car hire extender benefit can be added to your clients plan for as little as R55 per month. This benefit covers an additional 30-days car hire - giving them up to 60 days of car hire to ensure they remain mobile while their car is being repaired.
Whenever needed, a hired car will be arranged through a preferred partner contact centre and paid for according to the client's insurance plan benefit structure.
2. Write-off accelerator
A car is considered a write-off if the cost to repair the damage is greater than the value of the car or if it cannot be safely repaired to an extent of being roadworthy.
If your client is in an accident, they can submit a claim to us and we will send a qualified assessor to assess the car and calculate the monetary value of the damages to the vehicle. This cost of repair is then compared to the actual value of the vehicle. As per industry standards, a vehicle is automatically written off when an assessment reaches the conclusion that the cost of repair work needed would be more than 70% of its actual insured value (not including pre-existing damage).
With our Write-off accelerator benefit on their plan, they can decide to write off their vehicle at a lower damage level. For an additional R55 a month, your clients can select to have their car written off at 50% level. If the repair cost is assessed as 40% more than the insured level, they can opt in for an additional R80 per month.
This means that if the cost to repair the car is greater than 50% or 40% of the insured value, it will be considered a write-off and Discovery Insure will replace the car with a similar make or model rather than repairing it.
Vehicle write-offs and prolonged car repairs can be frustrating experiences. Clients may be hesitant or even outright refuse to drive cars that they have been in a severe accident with. The Write-off accelerator and car hire extender are two benefits that can completely change the way clients experience claims after an incident and provide them with value and comfort during these otherwise stressful periods.
