Catch possible problems early

Preventive screenings are important because they make sure you detect possible medical conditions early so we can make sure you get the best care.

The Screening and Preventive Benefit pays for specific tests without having the cost deducted from day-to-day benefits or using money in your Personal Medical Savings Account. While we pay for screening tests from the Screening and Preventive Benefit, we pay the consultation cost (if there is one) from your day-to-day benefits.

If you use a provider in our network, we cover the cost in full. You have to pay the difference if your healthcare provider charges more than the Remedi Rate.

Health check

You have cover for one health check a year. As part of the health check, a wellness specialist checks:

• Blood sugar
• Blood pressure
• Cholesterol
• Body mass index (BMI)

We only cover the full cost of the health check if you have all the checks done on the same day at participating pharmacies or at corporate wellness days. To find a network pharmacy, visit www.yourremedi.co.za

Screening tests

• One mammogram (female) a year
• One Pap smear a year
• One prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test a year
• HIV blood tests (2x rapid, 2x enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELIZA) unlimited in line with PMB requirements)
