Hotels and accommodation for COVID-19 isolation

This partnership with hotels and approved facilities gives medical scheme members who are diagnosed with COVID-19 access to a space to isolate. Medical scheme members qualify for a reduced rate at selected properties. With this benefit, the aim is to prevent further infections in households by assisting those diagnosed with COVID-19 to self-isolate.

Ubuntu Beds hotels and guesthouses

1. If your doctor suspects that you have COVID-19, you qualify for a reduced rate at any Ubuntu Beds hotel or guesthouse for two nights while you wait for your test results. Contact the Scheme to get a reference number for the stay at the hotel or guesthouse.
2. If your test shows that you have COVID-19, you will get an authorisation letter from the Scheme. The letter has more details about the cover you will receive from the WHO Global Outbreak Benefit.
3. To make a booking, contact Ubuntu Beds at bookings@ubuntubeds.org or call 0861 99 93 08 and choose option 3 for medical scheme isolation.
   Bookings are open 07:00 to 21:00 (Monday to Friday) & 07:00 to 19:00 (Saturday and Sunday).

Ubuntu Beds will require the following information:

• Your Remedi Medical Scheme membership number
• The full name of the member
• The phone number of the member
• Location where you require accommodation
• The check-in date
• The expected check-out date (this might change once the test results are received)
• Dietary requirements

* Please attach a copy of your authorisation letter to your booking email.

1. Once Ubuntu Beds receives the necessary information and the copy of the authorisation letter, they will locate the nearest available quarantine or isolation facility and check with you if you want to go ahead and book the accommodation.
2. They will then email you an invoice with a payment link so you can pay the discounted rate for your stay.

When Ubuntu Beds has received payment, you will receive an accommodation voucher that includes the accommodation address, contact details and check-in time.
