Employees can get monthly chronic medicine delivered to their door

Discovery MedXpress makes it easier for your employees to get their chronic or monthly repeatable medicine. They don’t have to wait in a queue at the pharmacy anymore to collect their prescribed medicine. With MedXpress your employees can order their medicine online, over the phone or with the Discovery App for members and have it delivered to an address of their choice at no extra cost.

Discovery MedXpress is the designated service provider for chronic medicine on all Delta Plans

If your employees are on a Delta Plan, they have full cover for approved chronic medicine when using MedXpress to fill their repeat prescriptions.

If your employees, as Delta members, decide not to use MedXpress for their monthly chronic medicine repeats, then a 20%co-payment will apply, which they will have to pay themselves.

Placing an order for the first time

Your employees can follow these three easy steps to register for MedXpress:

Step 1 – Clearly mark their prescription with the words “MedXpress” and their membership number.

Step 2 – Email their prescription to medxpress@discovery.co.za or fax it to 011 539 1020

Step 3 – Once the prescription has been received, your employees will receive an SMS advising them to call Discovery MedXpress on 0860 99 88 77 to place their order. We’ll send your employees an SMS approximately two hours after they fax or email the prescription to us.

Re-ordering is simple

Your employees can either place re-orders telephonically, by the Discovery website, Discovery App for members (download in the App Store or Google play) or by the SMS re-order facility.

Through the SMS facility, your employees will receive an SMS 23 days after their previous order was placed, requesting them to reply ‘Yes’ if they want the same order placed in the next month,  or ‘No’ if they don’t.

If your employees reply ‘Yes’, MedXpress will place an order with the same medicine from the month before. The order will include the exact same dosages and will be processed and delivered the same way as the previous month.

Instances when your employees won’t be able to use the SMS re-order service

  • After any change in the delivery address or the quantity or types of medicine to be ordered, your employees should rather contact MedXpress directly so we can make the changes for that particular month.
  • When a medicine order or part thereof is paid from their Medical Savings Account and there are no funds available, we will only send a reminder SMS for them to contact Discovery MedXpress to place their order.
  • When a medicine order has a co-payment, that is, when their medicine is covered only up to a Chronic Drug Amount, a MedXpress consultant is available to advise them about cheaper generics or formulary alternatives that may reduce or avoid a co-payment.
