Discovery Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge

Whether you are a Plettenberg Bay holidaymaker, a high-performance athlete or simply like to give your support as you maintain your summer body throughout December, the Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge has an event willing to challenge you.

Sabrina Love Foundation

Tony and Suzy Lubner founded the Sabrina Love Foundation in 2003 in memory of their daughter Sabrina who was born with a rare bone disorder. The Sabrina Love Foundation provides holistic support to all children and their families. They offer a day care centre and additional services such as visits to occupational therapy, to hospital, the Red Cross or to physiotherapy. Where possible, they also offer support for specialist operations or procedures.

It’s the Foundation’s many fundraising initiatives and their wonderful and loyal supporters that make it all possible. And the Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge, hosted by Discovery, is one of their most popular initiatives drawing thousands of people to this fitness event in the Garden Route over the festive period.

This event is close to our hearts, and hosting it in the picturesque Garden Route is a good reminder that we have a special country. It’s a great way to get families active over December, while still being able to contribute to such a wonderful cause.

The multidisciplinary nature of the event means that there is a chance for every type of athlete, and every member of the family, to get involved – the trail runners, long-distance swimmers, paddlers, mountain bikers and the kids, Maclean notes.

With over 4 000 participants taking part in this multidisciplinary event every year, the Sabrina Love Foundation has raised over R1 million for their cause. The event will take place on 20, 21 and 22 December in Plettenberg Bay, and promises to be three days of family, fitness and fun all in support of the Sabrina Love Foundation.
